More than six decades after its unusual release, “It Happened One Night” mild sparkles like a newly minted coin. It’s romantic, witty, sophisticated … and positive key scenes (especially Clark Gable’s gangster impression and Claudette Colbert’s hitch-hiking lesson) remain laugh-out-loud droll. I especially enjoyed the advertising archive portion, which included color reproductions of the new one-sheet posters and lobby cards. Overall, this disc is a enormous example of the DVD format at its finest, and a most well-behaved presentation of a advantageous Hollywood classic.

Although the film does play up the “contemptible heiress” stereotype Ellie never becomes an unsuitable type character. It’s toothsome that in this movie, Ellie “wears the pants” in the relationship and is the mover and shaker. The bickering-but-respectful relationship between Peter and Ellie is an consuming disagreement to a film made 20 years later, Roman Holiday. Roman Holiday is a film with a similar storyline, but the gender politics have changed. Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) has none of the eccentricity of Peter Warne (who’s shown chewing a carrot), but is the romantic knight in radiant armor. Audrey Hepburn’s Princess is charming and doe-eyed, not brash and cheeky like Ellie.

It Happened One Night is not a big-budget film. Over the years, Hollywood has near out with many romantic comedies, some valid. But It Happened One Night is serene the gold standard. For once a classic film’s reputation is richly deserved.

Brought to the shroud by some of the people who gave us Schindler’s List, Hook, Jurassic Park, and Rain Man, this apt sage is a well executed film that teaches without preaching.

The Record of Johnny Lingo moves at a gradual plot as an outcast boy finds his state in the world with a puny befriend from some original friends. It starts out somewhat predictable (but what Disney movie isn’t? ), then we learn what the Narrative actually is in a surprise half-way through. And the boy-goes-back-for-the-girl ending is very well done with a itsy-bitsy twist of its beget to sustain it keen.

Not enough movement to hold smaller kids fervent and probably too uncool for older kids, it is a perfect fit for families with children in the 6-14 age group.

The scenery is breathtaking. And the soundtrack, which consists of frail and contemporary Polynesian themes, is fabulous; the music is well selected.

Family movies hurry the risk of being glowing coarse quality vivid that there are so few movies out they’ll have some minimum audience no matter what. This is not one of those movies. While shot on an indy budget (I would guess), the production values and editing really bring out the sage in an spirited design. It is charming microscopic movie.

I was raised on the 1969 short film “Johnny Lingo” produced at BYU.

I enjoyed this retelling with one exception. The Tahitian Noni company (one of the sponsors) shamelessly plugged the noni fruit and its juice. I admit that noni, despite their taste, have fabulous healing powers, but this propoganda belongs in a commercial, not a movie.

The most shameless example of self-promotion was when Tama was threatened with death because spilling noni juice displeased the gods. None of the gold or silver with Johnny would appease the gods’ madden over the spilt nectar.

I recognized a lot of the cast from “The Other Side of Heaven”, and their acting did not disappoint. The lush valleys of Fresh Zealand were also impressive.

If you are a “Utah Mormon” you may want to grasp the LdS Collection 2-disc edition from Deseret Book. This edition includes the BYU classic, the feature film, and some bonus material. Again, the LdS edition is labeled “NOT FOR SALE OVER THE INTERNET”, so you have to go to Deseret Book.

The Salem Witch saga began in the winter of 1692 with the irregular behavior surrounding a number of young girls living in Salem Village, several of whom were living in the household of the controversial village minister Samuel Parris. The girls were given to bizarre fits that the local physician was at a loss to justify except by the actions of witchcraft. Soon accusations were leveled at the minister’s Carib Indian slave woman, Tituba, who, under torture, admitted to being a witch in league with the Devil. Before long, hundreds of people from the surrounding countryside were arrested and dragged into court to retort to charges of witchcraft. In the slay, 19 people died as a result of the tumultuous trials before public sentiment finally turned against the accusers.

The Salem Witch Trials have loomed mammoth in American history since the time they occurred. There have been many different attempts to elaborate the causes of the witchcraze that swept Salem, but the debate continues to this very day. This documentary gives a distinct and basic conception of the historical events that took status and serves as a splendid introduction to this material for anyone alive to in this well-known event in American History.

Okay, I started reading the Clique when I was 12 and that was 4 years ago. Now I’m 16 and the Clique girls are peaceful 12 in the very first movie.

Remembering support to the very first book and watching this movie is surreal. The movie is almost nothing how I pictured the book in my mind, but they do a very nice, proper portrayal of the book.

The movie follows the basic location line, includes many of the characters, ha very consuming fashion, actually has the IMing and Plot of the Union parts, and quoted many of the amusing lines from the book.

Although there were parts of the book that I missed (like the whole tights trend and the Massie insights), the most distinct jump from book to movie were the main characters. Alicia wasn’t busty enough, but the whole “rubbing boobs together” piece took on a whole recent meaning. Massie acted a exiguous too forced sometimes. Kristen wasn’t sporty enough. However, this are microscopic details.

I definitely recommend this to all Clique fans because while it may be very different from what we saw in our minds, it level-headed tells the timeless record of fitting-in and insecurities with the “loveable” characters and their lines that we know!

I had very minute hope for this when I sat down with my daughters to peer it. By the destroy of the movie it was determined that they all enjoyed it and so did I. One of my girls has read the books and said it was very terminate to it. Lets hope there are more of these.

I rated this four stars relative to the series as a whole; in relation to every other comedy currently on the air, it really warrants the elephantine five stars. In short, I have to agree with other reviewers who feel Season Two is probably the weakest in the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” series. Peaceful, this is worth the sign of admission for the “Doll Head” episode alone, maybe the funniest 30 minutes ever aired in television history, even if the rest isn’t quite up to the usual Larry David standards. And while I’m not generally a fan of DVD extras, shelling out 35 bucks for a no-frills five-hour’s worth of viewing seemed a tad inflated compared to similar DVD sets on the market (really, all the HBO series DVD’s are over-priced) .

It was peaceful worth it in the raze, as nothing makes me laugh harder than watching this bad shlub boom his contrivance through ridiculous situations of his maintain making. Priceless moments this season include an uncomfortably realistic bit with Jason Alexander suffering the slings and arrows of post-Seinfeld Costanza-typecasting; Ed Asner’s hysterical turn as a gruff and horny faded geezer on his last legs; and a alarmed Larry encountering his shrink sporting a package-revealing thong at the beach — not to even mention the nightmarish water bottle incident in the “Doll Head” episode.

This is “Curb Your Enthusiasm” undergoing growing wretchedness, unsuccessful in fully re-capturing the spontaneous greatness of Season One and not yet on the reliably right legs that will later hallmark its prime. While the writing and guest spots improve markedly in subsequent years, this series is aloof generous to everything being served up by the networks, even in its weakest hour.

I returned this boxed spot to Amazon for a refund because the 3 films inside are not as advertised on the Sony/Columbia website. All 3 films are supposed to be in anamorphic widescreen, but only 1 of them (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF) actually is. GUYS AND DOLLS is level-headed the same worn “letterbox” version, and they place the bad pan-and-scan fullscreen version of WEST SIDE Sage in this box. If you’re a collector like me, you will not want to recognize WSS in pan-and-scan. This film won 10 Oscars–one of them for its innovative widescreen cinematography. This product is not as advertised, and Sony/Columbia should know that they can’t pull a mercurial one like this. Please join me in boycotting this collection until they give us what they promised. Thanks.

This is the same LETTERBOXED (non-Anamorphic) transfer in the current single disc MGM DVD release. This is Fraudulent advertisement.

WEST SIDE Narrative is a 4:3 PAN and SCAN version. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is correctly advertised as ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN 2,35:1. I know the notice is friendly for these three classic musicals, but I already fill ALL of these in WIDESCREEN, and I really wanted GUYS AND DOLLS with a unique ANAMORPHIC transfer. I am planning to return the dwelling. SHAME ON YOU MGM and SONY PICTURES DVD for the attempt to fool the public with this release.

This DVD series is one of the most inviting I have seen. The animation is elegant suitable over all, but the record is the biggest sales point. It’s complex, nuanced, and animated. Centered around a scientific experiment gone awry and its long-term effects, it follows the adventures of an alien being as she seeks to complete her earth-bound experience. She is consistently misunderstood by most she encounters and her promenade is quite titillating throughout. I so wanted to glean out “what happens next” that I bought the entire series, and am very cheerful to have it. This series is serious in tone and provides food for opinion about many issues. I highly recommend it.

That is absolutley the most hilarious skit ever….Everybody does a astronomical job on that skit, and they especially did an awesome job at the MYB tour….(shhh I heard they did it special for me…hey…it’s not bragging if it’s lawful!!! he he!!!—hey I wonder if they build CPP in the commercial and the recent DVD for me too……a girl can dream!!!!)

The dvds are durable, so if you entrust your techno gizmos to cramped ones, they are perfect….they are brightly colored, so it will procure the eyes of the tiny ones at the store…

I bought 2 of the videos for my 2 yr. outmoded grandson, and it’s all he wants to play with! Animation and cartoons don’t have his attention, but he thinks he is true there dancing with the other kids! Every episode we have watched on tv has had some kind of lesson, AND it’s alot of fun-singing, dancing, and storytelling. I’ll be ordering the rest of the DVDs for Easter baskets and birthdays!
